Hi! I'm Clara.
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing—from turning 8th grade vocabulary assignments into stories to spinning wild tales for my parents to avoid chores. My passion for storytelling eventually led me to journalism, despite my dad’s best efforts to convince me that writers starve.
I graduated from college in 2020 with degrees in journalism and history. Soon after, I began my writing career as a bilingual journalist and translator for a community weekly in rural North Carolina, publishing stories in English and Spanish. My reporting won several awards from the North Carolina Press Association, but I ultimately left the paper in 2022 because as it turns out, writers do starve.
Since then, I haven't quite kicked my news addiction and now self-medicate by writing satirical short fiction skewering late-stage capitalism, everyday injustices, and the occasional dive-bombing cockroach. Once I recover from a chronic case of procrastination, I plan to write novels and novellas across genres, including historical fiction, speculative fiction, and dark urban fantasy.
